The Fellowship of the Ring

Following up from my previous Three Hunters post and, before that, Boromir ; I finally finished Gandalf the Grey and the four hobbits to round out my Fellowship of the Ring!

Serpent Riders

To supplement our  bourgeoning Serpent Horde army , I painted 4 Serpent Riders to accompany Suladan into battle. These were some of the most rewarding models I've ever painted! Now that we have quite a huge collection I am spending more time on models (and thus have mostly eschewed contrast paints) and the results are so much better in my humble opinion!

2023 Hobby Bingo Review!

It's that time again to look back at the last year and see how I did on the MESBG Hobby Bingo card! I'll go through each section row by row and show my completed card at the end of the post.

Suladan the Serpent Lord

I've been pretty excited about painting Suladan for some time. I just really dig how different  the Serpent Horde are. More bright colors; very little armor, etc. So, finally, I put brush to model and got to work.

Thorin and Dwalin, Champions of Erebor

Quick painting update today! Thorin and Dwalin from the Erebor reclaimed list both on goats. These are 3D prints from Dandelion in Middle Earth .

Some more(dor) recent painting: Razgush and Muzgur

We've been pretty smitten by Razgush lately, as you can tell from some of our recent battle reports  and I've finally gotten him painted. I also knocked out Muzgur... and maybe pulled the trigger on a bunch of Moria stuff to try out Assault on Lothlorien. I am usually late to the party on things like that, but it will be fun to have a super meta army in our collection beside Angmar.

Morgul Knights

Quick post today! Sorry for the radio silence, just got back from my honeymoon- which included a brief stop in Middle Earth! I'll do a full Hobbiton post shortly. For today- here's the last models I painted before galivanting around the world for a few weeks!

Rohan King's Huntspeople

After listening to the Green Dragon Podcast 's Rohan episode, I was pretty hype to try the Kings Huntsman profile. I painted up three huntspeople quickly and am pretty happy with the result!

Numenor Spearmen

Finally, the Last Alliance painting is (for the time being) done! No more proxying Gondor spearmen .

Nazgul of Angmar

For how often Mordor and Angmar see the tabletop on this blog, it felt like a crime not having any of the Nazgul beyond the Witch King. So, I decided to pick up the best looking (in my opinion) Nazgul pack and remedy that.

The Lord and Lady of Lothlorien

Quick post today, and apologies for being few and far between! I've been doing a good bit of work travel, but also playing and painting Battletech (bonus picture at the end!) Anyhow, I've been really wanting to try Galadriel, Lady of Light but I really don't like the spooky Galadriel model... so I've been sitting on the pajama Celeborn and Galadriel pack for a while and decided it'd be a nice quick evening of painting.

Gulavhar Proxy Part 2: Twolvhar.

You know, I really love the look of my original Gulavhar proxy . Unfortunately, however, it's just far too small compared to the actual (impossible to find right now!) original. So, enter Davale Games yet again!

The Three (D Printed) Hunters!

While I own no less than 3 versions of each of the three hunters, the printable options from The Printing Goes Ever On caught my eye. While they don't quite resemble the characters perfectly from the movie, something about them feels more representative of how I initially imagined them in the books; while not straying TOO far from the heroes as seen on the big screen. So, to add to my continual pile of shame opportunity, I printed them up and had a go!

Test Numenoreans from Davale

Hot on the heels of finishing up Davale Elendil , I wanted to test out a scheme for some Numenoreans. As I was awaiting a GW order of many spearmen, I printed up 3 more Davale "High Humans" models to test out a Numenorean scheme. I'm quite happy with them, and I can't wait to finish up a full force!

A New Power is Rising! Saruman the White

Quick post today! I've been sitting on this Saruman/Grima box for ages now, and waited to paint them until I was ready to put them on the table with a completed Isengard list. Really really like this sculpt! Super easy to paint, looks great, and his profile is just so much fun. Without further ado, here he is.

Elendil, High King of Gondor and Arnor

As you well know, dear reader, I am a huge Rivendell fan. We can run just about anything from the list in the collection with few exceptions so... what's the obvious next facet for exploration? Allies. What better way to ally than the Last Alliance of Elves and Men?!

Uruk Crossbows

Just a brief post today! Still cracking through my Isengard backlog. With these 8 crossbows, the 20 Uruks , the Crebain , and the Captains I'm pretty ready to get the army of the white hand on the table!

Uruk Captains of Isengard

Continuing on my Isengard trek , I just completed 4 captains and an Uruk-Hai banner bearer! Each of these are reasonably priced, decent heroes... and are frankly about the best non-Dunland Isengard heroes have to offer outside of Saruman.

Gwaihir the Windlord

What a fantastically fun model to paint! A little bit on the pricier side, but my homeboy Andrew was so keen to get it on the table, he bought it outright to add to the collection. Given our next league starts ASAP, I rushed to get it painted up for him. I have to say, I am quite happy with the result!

Build me an Army Worthy of Mordor! My first Uruks for Isengard

Quick painting update today! These started life as my friend Dan's models who got started on them, but they passed hands to me and I was able to get them across the finish line. I am quite happy with the result, and I'm getting pretty excited to put Isengard on the board. With my robust forces of Mordor, Minas Tirith, and Rohan I'll have completed armies for the "big 4".
